Bob Dylan, Justin Timberlake Appear on Inside Llewyn Davis Soundtrack

Inside Llewyn Davis follows a week-long snippet in the life of a young folk musician, loosely based on the late singer and guitarist Dave Van Ronk, reaching for recognition in Greenwich Village in the winter of 1961. Naturally, Burnett will feature live performances with songs from the early Sixties that inspired the film, as well as music from the movie. Also Read: 10 Things We Learned From New Nina Simone Doc

We decided to do a concert to bring together the community that had done the music, Burnett said, So there would be some synergy between the music and the film. Other artists set for the show include Colin Meloy of the Decemberists, Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, the Punch Brothers, Rhiannon Giddens of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Milk Carton Kids and Lake Street Drive. Patti Smith, Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings will also appear, and actor Oscar Isaac who plays Llweyn Davis in the film will perform as well. The idea was to round up the best of these young musicians to come up and do a show around this music, Burnett said.

Burnett was quite familiar with Inside Llewyn Davis directors Joel and Ethan Coen, having collaborated a few times before and produced the soundtrack for their 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou?; the album won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002.

Tickets for the Inside Llewyn Davis show will go on sale at noon on Wednesday via Ticketmaster. Inside Llewyn Davis will open in theaters December 6th, and its soundtrack will be released on September 17th.
