Acclaimed music producer and Def Jam pioneer Rick Rubins eclectic resum and unique creative process is the focus of the docuseries Shangri-La, and in this exclusive teaser from the upcoming Showtime series provides a rapid-fire glimpse into Rubins world.

Suspend the disbelief of whats possible, Rubin says in voiceover as images of the ocean, recording equipment, musicians in the studio and the producer meditating fill the screen for split-seconds. These things that we cant explain happen regularly.

Almost subliminally, another Rubinism appears in yellow font, Keep asking questions until you fully understand.

Academy Award- and Grammy-winning director Morgan Neville, who previously helmed the backup singer doc 20 Feet From Stardom and the Mr. Rogers film Wont You Be My Neighbor?, directed the four-part Shangri-La, which will premiere on Showtime this summer following its abridged screening at the 2019 SWSX Fest. The docuseries is named after Rubins famed Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, California, where artists like Kanye West, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Black Sabbath and U2 have recorded.
