Ricky Gervais Office Character Inspired by Braveheart, Simon & Garfunkel


Ricky Gervaisfussy character David Brent from the hit UK television showThe Office is entering the music world. As part of the upcoming filmDavid Brent: Life on the Road,Gervais is releasing aDavid Brent music album,RadioTimesreports.

I sort of fused Braveheart with Simon & Garfunkel shit, Gervaistweeted.Some of the song titles areNative American and Please Dont Make Fun of the Disabled, said the report. Gervais co-wrote them with Andy Burrows of Razorlight and We Are Scientists.The new film takes place 12 years after The Office and follows his characters band, Foregone Conclusion, on a UK tour.

Gervais latest release is Special Correspondents, a Netflix-exclusive movie. Gervais told Rolling Stonethat he made both films on his own terms. People think its arrogant when I say, If you get final edit and it turned out exactly as you want, youre bulletproof,' he said. Some people take that as meaning, Oh, arrogant. He doesnt take criticism. No. It means that I enjoy the creative process. Ive always enjoyed doing it my way, because not getting your way is worse than anything. Luckily Ive always sort of gotten my own way.

David Brent: Life on the Road will be released on August 19th in the UK.
