A month after Barry Gibb and his falsetto made a surprise appearance on the Saturday Night Live that Jimmy Fallon was hosting, the Bee Gee stopped by Late Nightlast night to sing songs by another set of musical siblings, the Everly Brothers. Although neither he nor the talk-show host made reference to the recently deceased Phil Everly, the duo harmonized on three Everlys classics: Bye Bye Love, Wake Up Little Susie and All I Have to Do Is Dream.

Fallon said the reason he wanted to do the songs with Gibb was because they had been talking backstage and singing songs when it came up that one of the Bee Gees didnt like impromptu singing. Robin was the one who didnt like the social sing-songs, Gibb said. So Fallon seized the opportunity and produced a guitar from behind the guests couch. Can we do a couple of Everly Brothers [songs]? he asked. He also added the caveat, Again, Im a comedian barely. But he didnt need to apologize since he harmonized each song well and even got Gibb to fall back and laugh at one point.
Earlier in the show, Gibb and Fallon also talked about Jimmy Fallons regular Barry Gibb Talk Show bit from his SNL days, in which hed interview guests and then become enraged, yelling at them in the Bee Gees helium voice. Regarding Gibbs appearance on the December episode, the singer said it was an enjoyable experience. What was odd was looking at myself 30 years ago, he said. Fallon also used the discussion to apologize for his impression of Gibb. The whole thing where Barry gets mad, I made that up, he said. Youre actually a nice guy. Ive never heard a bad story about you. I just made it up because I always wanted to do a character that just snaps on people. . . . So I apologize if anyone thinks youre a mean guy.
