Lorde Breaks Down Her 10 Favorite Arcade Fire Songs

Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance, Lorde said in a statement. The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.

The 17-year old singer was an obvious choice to head up the Mockingjay soundtrack, having contributed a harrowing cover of Tears for Fears Everybody Wants to Rule the World to the soundtrack for the previous Hunger Games film, Catching Fire.

Taking charge of the soundtrack to the anticipated film is another big moment in Lordes brief, yet brilliant, career: Her surprise number one smash, Royals, picked up Grammys for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. Back in March, Nirvanatapped the singertoperform All Apologiesat the groupsRock and Roll Hall of Fameinduction. And topping it off, the New Zealander not only graced the cover ofRolling Stone, but received perhaps the greatest honor any pop star can receive: A Weird Al Yankovic parody.

Lorde is currently scheduled to play Lollapaloozain Chicago on Friday, August 1st, and will kick off a North American tour on September 5th at the Mann Center in Philadelphia.
