Elton Johnand Ben Stillerboth found themselves on the Graham Norton Shows couch Friday, the same day the rock legend released his new LP Wonderful Crazy Night. With Stiller in London promoting Zoolander 2, the actor spilled the secrets behind Derek Zoolanders Blue Steel facial expression and gave John a lesson in how to achieve the look.
Its a six-part process, Stiller said of Blue Steel. It starts, first of all, with the thought, the inception of it. Secondly, its starting to feel it in the lower part of your body, and then allowing it to come up, and then really pushing through from the diaphragm up through the throat and out through the nose. Without thinking at all. You just have to clear your mind, its probably the biggest thing.
John then compared the Blue Steel look to Victoria Beckham posing. Shes got that look right down, the singer said. Always. All the girls know how to look at the right angle. They go, John added, making a pouty face that the Graham Norton Show described at a fish gape.
Later in the episode, John is nearly injured during the Zoolander 2 casts attempts to take a photo with a Guinness World Record-sized selfie stick. When that fails miserably, John brings the fish gape to a traditional selfie with Norton, Jack Black and the cast of the sequel.
