News yesterday that Ben Affleck will play Batman in the upcomingMan of Steel prompted an outpouring of reactions online, from occasional congratulations to plenty of Good Will Hunting and Gigi jokes.
Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill as Superman in the sequel, which Zack Synder will direct for a 2015 release. Cavill also played Superman in this summersMan of Steel.

The sequel was announced prior to the release of the firstMan of Steelinstallment in June, and the Superman vs. Batman faceoff went public at this years ComicCon.
