Johnny Depp joined Aerosmithfor the groups final encore of the night in Boston for a cover of the blues song Train Kept A-Rollin. The actor, who looked almost like an average Joe in his Kangol hat and rolled-up sleeves next to neon face-painted frontman Steven Tyler, beamed ear to ear as the group settled into a steady groove. About three-and-a-half minutes into the performance, the song breaks down and Depp takes the lead on an unaccompanied, bluesy guitar solo, as Aerosmith guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford look on. When the song is done, Depp hugs Whitford and Tyler waves his scarf-bannered mic around the air.

The actor previously joined Aerosmith on the same song in August 2012, when the group played the Hollywood Bowl. Earlier that year, Depp made an appearance on the groups Music From Another Dimension album, adding backing vocals to the song Freedom Fighter.
In recent years, Depp has been joining a number of bands onstage to play guitar. In June of this year, he joined Willie Nelson at the country luminarys Boston gig for rounds of On the Road Again and Crazy. Two years prior, he accompanied the Black Keys on Lonely Boy and Gold on the Ceiling at the MTV Movie Awards and surprised Alice Coopers shock-desensitized audience at an L.A. gig where they played the Doors Break on Through (To the Other Side) and the Beatles Revolution.
