The Girl on the Trains first trailer teaser has been released and it looks like its going to be a foreboding ride. Based on Paula Hawkins best-selling 2015 book, the film adaptation will hit theaters this fall.
Emily Blunt stars as the alcoholic Rachel Watson, who is still reeling from her recent divorce. Unemployed, she continues to take the train from her former work commute and obsesses while on the train over a perfect-seeming couple (played by Luke Evans and Haley Bennett) she observes.
Bennetts character, Megan Hipwell, is also a nanny for Watsons ex-husband (played by Justin Theroux) and his new wife, Anna (played by Rebecca Ferguson). Watsons fantasizing takes a dire turn when she becomes entangled in the investigation surrounding the nanny, who goes missing and is then found to be murdered.
In the trailer, which is set to Kanye Wests 808s & Heartbreak track Heartless, the forlorn Blunt reveals that she witnessed the nanny prior to her disappearance. I saw her, I saw her from the train. She was with this man. Things become more complicated and mysterious when Watson admits to investigators that she cant recall what happened and where she was on the night the nanny was murdered.
The Tate Taylor-directed The Girl on the Train, which is one of Rolling Stones 50 Most Anticipated Movies of 2016, will premiere in theaters on October 7th.
