Better Call Saul Rings Up Jonathan Banks


Breaking Bad fans who were upset at the fate of Jonathan Banks character MikeEhrmantraut will be happy to know hes been granted a second life. Deadline reports that Banks has signed to reprise his role as a series regular on Better Call Saul, the spinoff prequel series due this November on AMC. He joins Bob Odenkirk, who plays the titular character Saul Goodman, as the only other confirmed cast member. Banks exit from Breaking Bad came at the midway point of Season Five, when Ehrmantraut, a professional fixer, was taken out by Walter White (Bryan Cranston). Since then, hes booked a reoccurring role on Community and is will appear in the upcoming comedyHorrible Bosses 2, alongside Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has hired writers of the original series to help develop Saul and while stars Cranston and Aaron Paul havent been confirmed for any parts yet, theyve both publicly stated that theyd like to be involved. Just yesterday, Cranston told Rolling Stone Id be open to it for sure. Itd be fun to go back into the New Mexico desert and play with all my old friends. Paul also recently declared his ambitions to Details, stating Both Bryan and I want to be a part of [Saul], if theyll have us.
