Watch Jon Stewart Celebrate Matt Harvey Day Like a True Mets Fan

For five minutes on Thursday, Jon Stewart was like a kid in a candy store and not just because Donald Trump is threatening to run for president again.

The Daily Show host continued his farewell tour by booking Matt Harvey, one of baseballs best young pitchers and a key player in the New York Mets 2015 revival, as a guest on his show. Stewart, a longtime Mets loyalist and apologist, could barely hide his excitement before getting to sit face-to-face with his man crushat least based on this photo.

To make the moment even more magical, Harvey kicked off his appearance by hand-delivering Stewart a customized Mets jersey, leaving him grinning from ear-to-ear. Stewart responded by making sure that Harveys moneymaker his right arm, which hasnt been feeling that well as of late was snug and well-protected during its brief time on set, placing his elbow on a pillow and surrounding it with miniature police barricades.

You know, Im leaving the show, Stewart said, after ensuring Harveys arm was secure. Youre all Ive got left.

The two chatted about the Mets season, which has already featured an 11-game winning streak and finds them in the hunt for the NL East title, the young core of talent leading their resurgence and how to break the malaise that has settled over the team in recent years. To top it all off, Stewart got one step closer to making his ballpark dreams come to fruition, when Harvey extended a personal invite to the host to take batting practice at Citi Field.

That would, in no way, be a dream come true, Stewart deadpanned.

Harveys last appearance on the mound was one of the worst of his young career, but having Stewart butter him up should have him more than ready for the Mets opener against the Marlins on Friday.
