Walking Dead Reveals First Season 7 Trailer, Premiere Date

AMC has unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming seventh season of The Walking Dead, a spoiler-free glimpse into Season 7 that doesnt give any insight into the shows killer cliffhanger.

The three-minute trailer opens up with new villain Negans fatal last words to one member of the group before theyre inevitably beat to death Season 6s cliffhanger and then flashes back to a montage of what the characters have endured to survive to this point. There is one last split-second glimpse of Negan teasing each character with his bat before the spoiler-free look at Season 7 begins.

In addition to more footage of actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, the trailer also provides the first look at actor Khary Payton as the fan favorite character King Ezekiel, the ruler of the Kingdom who in the comic becomes an ally to Rick Grimes and company in their battle against Negan. The preview also features plenty of zombie-decapitating carnage.

The Walking Deadhosted a panel during Comic-Con where star Andrew Lincoln promised fans that they would find out the fate of who gets battered by Negan in the season premiere. Its a really shitty start to the season, Lincoln said while being tight-lipped who the victim is, Variety reports.

Season 7 of The Walking Dead premieres October 23rd. The 16-episode season will be split into two eight-episode parts, with the second half of the season airing in February 2017.
