Jimmy Fallon to Host Golden Globes

Jimmy Fallon will host the 74th Annual Golden GlobesAwards, which will air Sunday January 8th, 2017, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on NBC.

Fallon will be just the fourth person to host the awards show since Ricky Gervais revived the MC gig in 2010 (the Golden Globes had long operated without a host, save a 1995 show led by John Larroquette and Janine Turner). Since then, the British comedian has hosted four times including Januarys show while Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have co-hosted three times.

In a statement, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt praised Fallons playful, disarming comedic brilliance as a perfect fit for the spontaneous and uninhibited Golden Globes. However,The Tonight Showhosts brand of silly, meme-able celebrity comedy will also create an atmosphere far different fromthe often acerbic jokes that marked the stints of Gervais, and Fey and Poehler.

Fallons hosting credentials include his current gig at theThe Tonight Show which he took over in 2014 a four-year tenure at NBCs Late Night,as well as a run as Weekend Updateco-anchor with Fey on Saturday Night Live. In 2010, he hosted the Emmys, which he opened with a choir-themed rendition of Bruce Springsteens Born to Run alongside the cast of Gleeand other TV stars.
