Ed Sheeran Announces Live at Wembley Stadium TV Special

Ed Sheerans three sold-out nights at the historic Wembley Stadium in July were documented for an hour-long special to air on NBC this August. Ed Sheeran Live at Wembley Stadium will take viewers behind the scenes and show footage from the massive run.

I cant say that performing at Wembley Stadium was a dream come true, because I honestly thought it was out of reach and didnt think it was possible, Sheeran said in a statement. It really doesnt get any bigger than Wembley in my mind, and it was an honour to join the select few that have headlined there. Its definitely a personal milestone, and Im so glad to share this special moment with all of my fans.

Along with clips of Sheeran performing his own singles, the special will also feature a duet between the singerand Elton John. John joined Sheeran at one of the gigs to perform the veteran performers classic Dont Go Breaking My Heart and Sheerans own Afire Love. John had previously joined Sheeran at the Grammy Awards in 2013 to perform The A-Team together.

In between his worldwide tour in support of his sophomore album X, Sheeran opened for the Rolling Stones at the Kansas City stop of the bands Zip Code tour. The singer-songwriter joined the Stones onstage for a performance of Beast of Burden. In September, hell join Pearl Jam, Beyonce and Coldplay at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City. Tickets to the show are free for those who carry out an action to help fight extreme poverty.

Ed Sheeran Live at Wembley Stadium will air on NBC on Sunday, August 16th at 8 p.m. EST.
