Douglas Durst Very Grateful For The Jinx, Robert Dursts Arrest


While Douglas Durst, the younger brother of alleged murderer Robert Durst, may have refused to cooperate with The Jinx, he admits that he is very grateful for the HBO miniseries since it resulted in the arrest of his brother. In an interview with the New York Times, Douglas first since the series concluded with Roberts shocking confessionand subsequent arrestearlier this month, the New York real estate scion reveals that he believes his brother was stalking him with the intention of murder as recently as February.

According to Douglas,Robert was seen roughly 10miles north of Douglas Palm Beach County, Florida home on February 22nd.We had information that Bob was five or 10 minutes away from my house in Florida, Douglas Durst told the Times. We had to have security staying in the house.

Robert and Douglas vicious sibling rivalry was highlightedinThe Jinx, with Douglas getting a restraining order against his brother after Robert showed up uninvited and in some cases, armed at properties belonging to Douglas. Recently, Robert even started showing a fixation towards Douglas daughter Anita Durst, as Robert would randomly show up at arts events his niece was coordinating.

Douglas added that theres a tremendous sense of relief since his brother was arrested in New Orleans for charges stemming fromthe murder of Robertsfriend Susan Berman in 2000(plus additional drugs and weapons charges from the arrest itself). I no longer am looking over my shoulder. Im very grateful to The Jinx for having brought this about, Douglas said.

As for insinuations that Douglas helped cover up the still-unsolved disappearance of Roberts first wife Kathleen, Douglas reiterated that he had no communication with Roberts lawyer Nicholas Scoppetta, who The Jinx accuses ofspreading misinformation regarding the disappearance. Scoppetta also told the Times that he doesnt remember any conversations with Douglas Durst.
