The Romanoffs Trailer: See Matthew Weiners First Series Since Mad Men

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner has released the trailer for his new anthology series, The Romanoffs. The clip shows various people talking about how theyve descended from Russias royal family, which ruled from the 1600s until removed from power or killed during the Russian revolution in 1917. It will premiere two episodes on October 12th with episodes following each week on Fridays.

The series focuses on eight people with stories that the trailer teases stretch across seven countries. Each episode will feature a different cast. Its cast features Mad Mens Christina Hendricks and John Slattery, Kathryn Hahn, Paul Reiser, Diane Lane, Jack Huston and Amanda Peet, among others. The first two episodes, The Violet Hour and The Royal We, star Aaron Eckhart and Corey Stoll respectively.

The Romanoffs is an ambitious event series that will be the first-ever anthology released weekly on Prime Video, Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement. Filmed around the globe and featuring an incredible, star-studded cast, each episode will be a surprise gift to the audience. We are grateful to Matthew Weiner for bringing this groundbreaking series to life for our Prime audience.

The show is first from Weiner since the Mad Men finale in the spring of 2015. A Mad Men writer accused him of sexual harassment last year in a wave of allegations against Hollywood heavy hitters. The writer, Kater Gordon, said that while writing the finale Weiner demanded to see her naked. He told me that I owed it to him, she said. A representative for him said that he did not remember saying that or that it was the sort of thing he would say to a coworker.
