In its sixth season, biker drama Sons of Anarchy continues to roll out cover tunes curated by the shows composer and music supervisor, Bob Thiele. The seasons seventh episode (airing October 22nd) features the series house band, the Forest Rangers, covering Ziggy Marleys anthemic Love Is My Religion, from his 2006 LP.

Franky Perez, the stalwart voice of the Forest Rangers, sings this optimistic anthem with his trademark soulfulness, Thiele tellsRolling Stone. Exuding both power and restraint, he captures the range of emotions that Jax and his brothers are feeling as they literally sweep the wreckage of a long and bitter road traveled. As if willing the (im)possible, the choir repeats the phrase again and again, imploring you to join the band. Yeah, man, love is the answer.

As if things couldnt get worse, the shit has hit the fan with the Irish blowing up the clubhouse, Thiele says. With the MC at a major crossroads, the fate of SAMCRO has never been more precarious. Kurt Sutter offers a pathway to hope with this song. Neither religious nor preachy, the words suggest love as a way to redemption.
