Bill Murray Turns Up at Fans Ice Cream Social

Bill Murray has gained a reputation for mingling with the common folk, whether crashing bachelor parties and engagement photo shoots or joining in for karaoke blowouts. The owner of a Los Angeles ice cream shop tried his luck at meeting the actor earlier this week by throwing an impromptu Bill Murray Ice Cream Social, and events namesake did indeed show up.

A Short History of Bill Murrays Offscreen Antics

As the owner of CVT Softserve told Gawker, he heard that Bill Murray was shooting a movie in his neighborhood when he hit upon an idea to try to lure the actor out into his sweet creamy clutches. How often do you get to meet your idol? he asked. So Joe (no last name given) invited the entire neighborhood as well as the cast and crew of the film for some free ice cream. Long story short, the guest of honor made it to the party and the rest is history, Joe said. Like my dad always says Youll never dance with the pretty girl unless you ask.'

Joe captured the moment with a pair of adorable Instagram photos showing the 63-year-old actor enjoying a refreshing cone of softserve.

In another recent Bill-Murray-in-the wild sighting, the actor surprised the groom-to-be at a South Carolina bachelor party by delivering a funny and heartfelt speech about finding The One. In onscreen Murray news, earlier this month a strange and unreleased vehicle from 1984 called Nothing Lasts Forever resurfaced in full on YouTube. Murray is also set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 1984s Ghostbusters with the films re-release on August 29th.
