Fans can tune in on April 24th at 9 p.m. ET.

Season Sixmarks a significant departure in the series approach. Theshow previously adapted material from George R.R. Martins epic fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire. While the TV seriesleft out some plot lines, it stayed faithful to some of the major moments that the characters encountered. Believe me, it gave me no pleasure to type those words, Martin said in an interview about his not-yet-completed novel. Youre disappointed, and youre not alone. My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me. For months now I have wanted nothing so much as to be able to say, I have completed and deliveredThe Winds of Winter on or before the last day of 2015. But the books not done.

Several characters fates hang in the balance followingthe shows bloody June finaleand the book series most recent publication, including Jon Snow, who was stabbed by members of his own brotherhood, the Nights Watch, and Daenerys Targaryen, who was left surrounded by a horde of Dothraki with only her wounded rogue pet dragon, Drogon, nearby.

Martins previous book, 2011s A Dance with Dragons, left readers wondering about the aforementioned characters, too, but come April, the answers to what happens next for themand others should soon be revealed.
