Netflixs Remastered: Watch Trailer for Who Killed Jam Master Jay?

Jam Master Jays friends and family ponder the late DJs unsolved murder in the intriguing new trailer for Netflix docu-series ReMastered. The programs latest installment, Who Killed Jam Master Jay?, launches globally on December 7th.

The clip opens by surveying the musicians rise to fame in the 1980s with pioneering rap group Run-DMC, previewing interview subjects who praise the DJ (real name Jason Mizell) as a larger-than-life figure and a one-man band. But the preview turns dark after pivoting to his 2002 murder, which occurred after assailants were buzzed into his Queens recording studio and opened fire, killing the hip-hop legend at age 37.

The trailer hints at intimidated witnesses, tampered-with security cameras and the possibility of an inside job. One of my biggest fears, one interviewee says, was that Jays murder could be swept under the rug.

Was the killing part of 50 Cents feud with notorious local drug lords? Netflix wrote of the episode in statement. Was it a grudge against a member of security? Did it involve unpaid debts, or was it an inside job? Rumors flew, but none fit the hard-working DJ everyone knew as a peacekeeper. Though suspects were zeroed in on, Mizells friends and family have endured 16 years with no justice and no conviction, only unanswered questions.

Who Killed Jam Master Jay? is the third track of ReMastered, following investigative pieces on Bob Marleys attempted assassination and Johnny Cashs political evolution.
