Walking Dead Gang Fights to Survive in New Trailer

After five-and-a-half seasons of busting zombie skulls, Rick Grimes sounds more pragmatic than ever when it comes to the survival of his rag-tag gang. We do what we need to do and then we get to live, Grimes says in the new trailer for the second half of The Walking Deads Season Five. I know well be ok, he adds, because this is how we survive.

Though only 30 seconds long, the new clip teases some of the outrageous actionto come as Rick clocksone zombie with a machete and Daryl Dixon launchesan arrow through the back of a walkers head. The new trailer doesnt offer any intricate details about the upcoming season, though it is slightly more specific than the clip released last week, which found Rick and gang firing on an unseen enemy in a foggy forest.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 8th at 9 p.m. ET. For those looking for a Season Five refresher, be sure to check out our rundown of the midseason finale.

As The Walking Dead prepares to march on, news and rumors about the shows upcoming companion series, presently code-named Cobalt, continue to surface. According to the International Business Times, the new show will likelybe a prequel to The Walking Dead and it will be set in Los Angeles, rather than Georgia. Though early reports suggested that there would be little to no crossover between the two programs, its possible Noah Emmerichs Season One character, Center for Disease Control doctor Edwin Jenner, could provide a necessary link. Jenner famously spoilers ahead gave Rick the lowdown on the origins of the brain-dead hordes before blowing up the CDC in the first season finale.

At a Television Critics Association panel for his FX Show The Americans, Emmerich said he would be more than open to reprising his role as Jenner, though statedhe hadnt spoken with any of the shows producers. Sure, I think hes a fascinating character, Emmerich said. Theres definitely a lot more to find out about Dr. Jenner. I have no idea, I havent talked with them about anything. I dont know [if he could come back]. I have no idea, but its an interesting question.

While theres no official word on Emmerichs involvement, Varietyreported in September that The Walking Dead spin-off would star Cliff Curtis (Gang Related, Missing) as the male lead: Sean Cabrera, a divorced teacher trying to do right by everyone.
