Disney executive Jay Rasulo spoke about the films to investors in Beverly Hills yesterday, according to Variety. He mentioned that the first new Star Wars project would either be a trilogy film or an origin story film, leading to speculation that the latter type of film could explore the backstories of such mysterious characters as Han Solo and Yoda.

We will lay the groundwork for that. . . and when the film comes out in 2015, well be ready to blow it out, Rasulo said, referring to the first new Star Wars movie, which will be directed by fantasy/sci-fi titan J.J. Abrams.

Disney bought out LucasFilm last year, acquiring the rights to all future Star Wars enterprises. Rasulo spoke about his plans to expand the brands reach for a new generation of fans, noting that hed like to feature Star Warsin the companys theme parks.
