K-Pop Phenoms Blackpink Makes U.S. TV Debut on Colbert


Blackpink, the first all-female group that YG Entertainment, made their U.S. television debut onThe Late Show With Stephen Colberton Monday night. The quartet also announced their first North American tour.

For their performance, the girl group performed the single Ddu-du Ddu-du, which was featured both on the June EPSquare Upand their debut albumBlackpink in Your Area. They matched the songs candy-coated trap-pop with impeccable, harmonious choreography. Each of the girls got a moment to shine, whether it was rapping or belting the track.

With 36.2 million plays, Ddu-Du Ddu-Du became the second-most-viewed video in a 24-hour period in YouTube history, following only Taylor Swifts Look What You Made Me Do (it currently has over 661 million views as of February 12th). Earlier this year, Blackpink was announced as part of the Coachella line-up. Its the latest element of their American crossover, which follows the collaboration Kiss and Make Up with Dua Lipa. Along with theirColbert appearance, the group also announced their first North American tour dates, which will immediately follow the two weekends of Coachella in April.
