President Obama: Presidency Is Not Reality TV

Ive seen the decisions that have to be made and the work that has to be done, President Obamatold Jimmy Fallon during Thursdays Tonight Show, reflecting on his last months in office. Does he think Republicans are content with Donald Trump, Obama fired back on behalf of his party: We are.

The truth is, I am worried about the Republican party, Obama said.Democracy works when you have two parties that are serious and trying to solve problems. They have philosophical differences and fierce debates and argue and contest elections. But at the end of the day, what you want is a healthy two-party system. You want the Republican nominee to be someone who could do the job if they win. You want folks who understand the issues, where you can sit across the table from them, have a principled argument and ultimately can still move the country forward.

Turning to the Democratic party, the President said thecontested primary between Bernie Sanders and presumptive nominee Hillary Clintonwas healthy: Bernie Sanders brought enormous energy he pushed the party and challenged them, Obama said. I thought it made Hillary a better candidate. She is whip-smart; she is tough, and she deeply cares about working people and putting kids through school and making sure were growing our economy.
