Donald Trump on Impersonations: Im Not Offended

Earlier this week, Johnny Deppbecame the latest to impersonate Donald Trumpwhen the actor starred as the mogulin Funny or Dies faux Eighties biopic The Art of the Deal: The Movie. When Trump was asked during a Friday conference call with reporters whether the constant caricaturesbother him, the Republican candidate replied, I know the business. I know the game. And Im not offended.

They have enough guidance, Trump added of the impersonations (via New York Times). Theyve got, certainly, plenty of material, thats for sure. Some are really good. And some are really, really awful. Trump added that all the impressions are a good barometer for how popular his campaign is.

If they didnt do it if they didnt have any interest I guess things wouldnt be going so good, Trump said. Id have to call you [reporters]and say: Whats going on here? Whats wrong?'

Trump also named two of his favorite Trumps: He said of Jimmy Fallon, who performed a mirror gag with Trump on Tonight Show, I think hes a terrific guy. I also think he does some great, great imitations. He also complementedSaturday Night Lives Darrell Hammond, who has been impersonating the mogul on the series for nearly 15 years; this season, Hammond, who now serves as SNLs announcer, has shared Trump impersonating duties with Taran Killam.

As for his latest impersonator Depp, Trump admitted that while he hadnt seen The Art of the Deal: The Movie, Theres a difference, physically, I can say but I think hes a great actor.
