See Jimmy Fallon and Kelly Clarkson Harmonize the History of Duets

Spurred by Kelly Clarksons recent comments that she has been unable to find a suitable duet partner, Jimmy Fallonoffered his services on last nights The Tonight Show. Together, the couplesang a dozen duets in a four-minute mega-medley. Much like Fallons ongoing History of Rap series with Justin Timberlake, the late-night host and the Heartbeat Songsinger take a similar journey through five decades of chart-topping duets, kicking things off with SonnyandChers I Got You Babe before bringing it on home with Lionel Richie and Diana Ross Endless Love.

Along the way, Fallon and Clarkson also sing snippets of famous duets like the Human Leagues Dont You Want Me, Charles & Inez Foxxs Mockingbird, Elton John and Kiki Dees Dont Go Breakin My Heart, Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadts Dont Know Much (with Fallon dressing up as Neville, right down to the prominent birthmark), Stevie Nicks and Tom Pettys Stop Draggin My Heart Around, Jennifer Warnes and Joe Cockers Up Where We Belong and, most important, Paula Abdul and MC Skat Kats Opposites Attract.

The comment Fallon is referring to at the beginning of the bit is based on something Clarkson recently told BBC Radio 1 regarding the lack of guests on her new album Piece by Piece. I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no, she said. Im not kidding you. I have legitimately asked several people that Im not going to call out, and thats cool, but I dont know. The singer later tweeted that she was just jokingabout not being able to find duet partners, and that John Legend would feature on her Piece by Piece track Run Run Run.
