Loneliness at is at the heart of Sam Smiths new video for single Dancing With a Stranger, which features guest vocalist Normani. The stark clip, shot in London, features the two singers alone in a house, mournfully looking back on relationships past and attempting to move on. The sultry, moody vibe is an ideal backdrop to the R&B-tinged number, especially as dancers begin to move throughout the complex.
The single, which dropped earlier this month, has become an instant hit, earning 80 million streams worldwide, according to Capitol Records. Its Smiths first new music of 2019 and follows last years Promises, a soulful collaboration with Calvin Harris. Smiths sophomore album, The Thrill of It All, arrived in the fall of 2017 so its likely this year will bring more new tunes from the singer. Smith has been a long-professed fan of Fifth Harmony, Normanis former band, making this collaboration even more engaging.
Although Smith and Normani havent announced any live performances of their joint single, Smith will join Harris on February 20 at the BRIT Awards to perform Promises. The singer is nominated in the British Male Solo Artist category, which would make him a four-time winner. The awards will be live-streamed on YouTube for fans around the world.
