Wilco Tap Courtney Barnett, Jon Hamm for 2019 Solid Sound Festival


Wilco enlisted Courtney Barnett, experimental rock act Tortoise, jangle-pop band the Feelies and in an intriguing and unexpected turn Mad Men actor Jon Hamm for the 2019 edition of their own Solid Sound Festival, scheduled for June 28th through the 30th at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, Massachusetts. The lineup also includes two headlining Wilco sets their first U.S. shows in nearly two years along with spots from Jonathan Richman, Cate Le Bon, the Minus 5, comedian John Hodgman, Milo, Wand, Foxwarren and Clipping., among others.

Hamm will appear as part of Fishing, a collaboration with Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche. The bands other members will appear with their respective bands and side projects: Jeff Tweedy & Friends, Nels Clines CUP, Mikael Jorgensens Quindar, and an acoustic with strings set from John Stirratt and Pat Sansones the Autumn Defense.

Weekend passes are currently available to purchase. A limited quantity of single-day tickets will go on sale Thursday, February 28th at noon ET, and single-day line-ups will be announced the same day.

The three-day festival, which launched in 2010, will also include non-musical activities like an Authors in Discussion panel from publisher Penguin Random House, a Reverb sale from Wilcos Loft rehearsal/studio space, a nature hike, axe-throwing and Euclid Records pop-up record store.

Wilco issued their 10th studio album, Schmilco, in 2016. Since then, Tweedy has issued two solo LPs, 2017s Together at Last and 2018s Warm, and written/produced Mavis Staples 2017 record, If All I Was Was Black.
