Game of Thrones isnt the only much-anticipated drama returning to TV this April: AMC has revealed that the final season of Mad Menwill premiere April 5th. The last seven episodes in the saga of Don Draper are being touted as the second half of the shows seventh season, which kicked off in April 2014 and concluded with an unexpected, climactic song-and-dance numberand a longtime characters exit.
What an incredible journey this has been, creator Matthew Weiner said in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter. We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us. Mad Men concluded filming in the summer of 2014, and in the months that followed, Weiner expressed some apprehensionabout how he thinks the finale will be perceived.
The road has been paved for a mixed review, no matter what. I do what Ive always done on the show and rely on the people around me. The actors, the writers, and my wife all liked it, so thats all I can go on at this point, Weiner said. I hate to say this obviously ending the entire series is significantly more pressure but its been that way every year. I never knew if the show was coming back for most of the series, so we treated every episode 13 like it was the end. Its very bittersweet and high-pressure.

That slogan seems to add fuel to fan conspiracies that the Sixties-based series, currently in July 1969 as evidenced by last episodes moon landing, will end promptly when the clock strikes Seventies. One thing we do know about the final seven episodes: Sally Draper wont be attending Woodstock.
