Watch Trailer for M. Night Shyamalans Creepy New Thriller Split

Kidnappings, mulitiple-personalities, creepy underground rooms the first trailer for M. Night Shyamalans upcoming psychological chiller Split suggests the filmmaker is back to his old creeping-viewers-out stomping grounds.

Should you wonder what twist the the Sixth Sense director may have in store, the clip reveals the first plot wrinkle up-front: Kevin (X-Men: Apocalypses James McAvoy) has one of the most extreme cases of dissociative-identity disorder on record, playing host to 23 different personalities including a lisping nine-year-old named Hedwig and one who the others call the Beast. Under the command of one of his alter egos, Kevin kidnaps three teen girls (including The Witchs breakout star Anya Taylor-Joy) and subjects them to a night of terror as his identities fight for control.

I was sent to get you for a reason, McAvoy tells them. Why has he abducted these girls? Which of his personalities is the architect of this creepy plan? And why does he keep strategically placing flowers for the girls like his basement dungeons a Days Inn? Hes done awful things to people, McAvoy warns his captives about his most psychotic inner self, and hell do awful things to you.

Split costars Jessica Sula, Haley Lu Richardson and Betty Buckley, and will hit theaters on January 20th, 2017.
