Watch Amy Sedaris Nonsensically Serenade David Letterman

David Lettermans six-week, star-studded march toward his farewell showkicked off this week with a handful of old friends and favorite guests (like Billy Crystal) dropping by The Late Show to say goodbye to the late night host. Wednesday night, comicactressAmy Sedaris, a self-proclaimed 34-time Late Show guest, bid adieuto Letterman by serenading him with a medley to wrap up how she feels about the departing host. No offense, Letterman quipped. But can you sing?

Listen, its a very awkward time for you. Its a lot of attention. I know you dont like it; I dont like it either, Sedaris said of Lettermans last six weeks on the air. But you put yourself in this position. Seriously, you were a weatherman, then you had to have your own talk show. And this is how it wraps up, okay?

Sedaris then launched into a rapid-fire medley of one lyric plucked out of seemingly random tunes before concluding with Allan Shermans Sam, You Made the Pants Too Long. That song was it was peculiar, Letterman toldSedaris, who responded, I dont know any songs by heart, thats just a bit of something, but I love Erykah Badu.

Lettermans final six weeks, or his very awkward time, will feature dozens of marquee guests like George Clooney, Lettermans old sparring partnerOprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Howard Stern, Jerry Seinfeld, Will Ferrell, Robert Downey Jr., his first ever guest Bill Murray and many more. On the music front, Tom Waits, Dave Matthews Band, Elvis Costello and Mumford & Sons will all visit the Ed Sullivan Theatre before Letterman retires on May 20th.
