Watch Billie Joe Armstrong Deliver Powerful Ordinary World on Conan

Billie Joe Armstrong delivered a moving performance of Green Days Ordinary World on ConanWednesday.

Armstrong took the stage solo, strumming an acoustic guitar and singing the folk-tinged ballad that closes the bands latest album, Revolution Radio. With the intimate set-up, Armstrongs aching voice carried the song from its simple but affecting lyrics The days into years roll by/ Its where that I live until I die to his sweet, wordless coos.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Armstrong spoke about Ordinary World, saying, After all of the chaos thats on the album, whether its pop culture or whatever new apps were using, everything gets so complicated. At some point you want something simple. Thats sort of what Ordinary World is about.

While Ordinary World closes Revolution Radio, Armstrong wrote the tune for a movie of the same-name in which he stars as an aging musician. Ordinary Worldarrived in October and co-stars Fred Armisen and Selma Blair.
