Watch Bill Murray Rally Cubs Nation on Kimmel

Like most Cubs fans, Bill Murray is hurting right now.

The oft-amazing actor stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday to promote his new film Rock the Kasbah, as well as his star-studded Christmas special coming soon to Netflix. But being the diehard Cubs fan that he is, it didnt take Kimmel long to bring up Sundays NLCS Game 2, which saw Jimmys beloved Mets beat the Cubbies to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

A despondent Murray explained that its still too soon to count the Cubs out because, well, tradition says everything is going to plan. With the Cubs playing their next three games at Wrigley Field, he believes theyll keep their season alive long enough to force a Game 7, which is when the gloves really come off.

I believe in the words of the song that you root, root, root for the home team, and if they dont win its a shame,' Murray said. I feel as a real baseball fan that the ideal scenario is for each home team to win all its games until the seventh game, and then we decide quien es mas macho.

Before Game 2, Kimmel who threw out the first pitch wearing Mike Piazzas old number 31 said Murray was asked to touch the Cubs lineup card for good luck. Unfortunately for him, rubbing it all over his body couldnt even conjure up enough magic to dig the Cubs out of their hole. Murray explained that probably had something to do with him wearing too manylayers (it was cold in New York), which means hesgotta get naked for Game 3. Desperate times call for desperate measures, after all.
