Good Charlotte, Dr. Phil Form Awkward Supergroup on Corden

The most unlikely supergroup in rock history pop-punk veterans Good Charlotte and TV personality Dr. Phil made their bizarre debut on Thursdays Late Late Show With James Corden. The show organized the joke team-up for a sketch starring Corden as arenowned music performance enhancement coach who tries to boost bands careers with outside-the-box collaborations.

We didnt call [Corden], Good Charlotte admitted backstage at the Late Late Show. Weve never met him. He just showed up. But the host, moonlighting as the Gandhi of music, convinced the band that he could transform them into Great Charlotte with his odd artistic vision.

Dr. Phil then crashed the groups dressing room, shouting, Im here to rock this bitch! Later, the talk-show host jumped onstage during their performance of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, singing wildly out of tune while decked out in goth eyeliner and a rocker jacket. After the song, Corden admitted he was very, very wrong about the mash-up. If anything, he said, that was Bad Charlotte. But he pledged to continue down the enhancement path.

It didnt work out this time around, but Im an innovator, he said, before referencing a recent ubiquitous headline. There are always going to be casualties along the way. Elon Musk was plagued with setbacks before he released the Tesla. Look at him, now hes on a podcast smoking weed.
