Watch First Trailer for Lifetimes Michael Jackson Biopic Searching for Neverland

Lifetime has released the first trailer for their Michael Jackson biopic Searching for Neverland, starring the self-proclaimed worlds greatest King of Pop impersonator Navi.

The movie, based on the 2014 book by Jacksons personal bodyguards Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard, follows Jackson in the final years of his life, with the pop legend trying to balance parenthood with fame.

He doesnt want to be the King of Pop. He just wants to be Mike, one of the bodyguards says in voiceover. A normal American dad.

However, the trailer hints at the darker side of Jacksons final years as investigators question the bodyguards about Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor who administered the deadly dose of Propofol in the hours before the singers death.

Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland premieres Memorial Day, May 29th, on Lifetime.

Whitfield and Beards book detailed their experiences working for Jackson and protecting his family from the aftermath of his 2005 sexual molestation trial to his 2009 death. In the biopic, The Walking Dead actor Chad L. Coleman plays Whitfield.

Jackson is the latest celebrity to become the focus of a Lifetime movie, following the networks campy biopics for Brittany Murphy, Anna Nicole Smith, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston and, most recently, Britney Spears.

Jacksons pet chimpanzee Bubbles will also soon be the recipient of his own biopic thanks to an offbeat stop-motion movie co-directed byTaika Waititi.
