Watch Conan OBrien Channel Mad Max for Comic-Con Video

Conan OBrien headed south to San Diego on Wednesday to begin a week of Conan tapings at Comic-Con, cruising down Interstate 5in style as the guitar-wielding Doof Warriorfrom Mad Max: Fury Road.

With Andy Richter, dressed as Immortan Joe, guiding the rig, and Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band pounding a set of drums on the back as War Boys, OBrien swung on top of the caravan and kicked out the vicious riffs. The barrage of noise, however, caused Richter to spill his coffee and soon the late night crew found themselves completely lost.

We shouldve hit La Jollaby now, the thing is, the guitar is so loud, I cant hear the GPS! Richter says. OBrien, dangling from his chains overthe hood of the truck, offers a sincere apology Its so much fun, I get carried away and before the crew gets back on the road, the host offers his trusty sidekick a little taste of chrome.

The rest of the trip goes smoothly, as OBrien roasts a few hot dogs with his guitars bonus flamethrower neck, and the rig rolls safely into the apocalyptic wasteland known as San Diego.

Conan will alter its four-night schedule and broadcast from Comic-Con over the weekend, through July 12th. The stint marks the first time a late-night showhas taped in San Diego, which is the second location-based milestone the TBS talk show has achievedthis year. In March, OBrien took advantage of President Obamas efforts to normalize relations withCuba and became the first late-night host in over 50 yearsto tape in Havana.
