Veruca Salts Original Lineup Plays First Gig Together in 18 Years

Its always 1994 somewhere: The original lineup of Veruca Salt took the stage at Conan on Wednesday night to kickstart their upcoming trip around the nostalgia circuit, playing their first live gig together in 18 years. The band busted out a spry but vicious rendition of their 20-year-old hit Seether, the Gibson guitar tones sounding as crunchy and sludgy as ever, and a matured bite coming through on frontwoman Nina Gordons vocals.

The band also stuck around for an exclusive performance of their new track, The Museum of Broken Relationships, but that hasnt hit the Conan sitejust yet. That song recently appeared alongside another new cut, Its Holy, as well as Seether, which were released as a limited edition 10-inch vinyl on Record Store Day by the bands original label Minty Fresh.

The Museum of Broken Relationships and Its Holy mark the first new music from Veruca Salts original lineup (Gordon, guitarist Louise Post, bassist Steve Lack and drummer Jim Shapiro) since their 1997 album, Eight Arms to Hold You. Following Gordons departurefrom the group in 1998, Veruca Salt continued to record, releasing two albums and a few EPs under Posts direction and with an ever-shifting lineup.

Veruca Salt start their summer reunion tour June 22nd in Portland, and have shows scheduled throughout the U.S., and a handful in Australia through October. You can check out a full list of dates and purchase tickets on the bands website.
