Jim Lauderdale goes searching for the ancient mysteries of love in his new song The Secrets of the Pyramids, the first track to be premiered from the Americana legends latest LP, From Another World.
Due to be released on June 21st, From Another World features 10 tracks all written or co-written by Lauderdale, including The Secrets of the Pyramids, which he wrote with new artist Logan Ledger. The sunny romance ballad comes with a cheeky music video that sees Lauderdale poring over texts in a library and, in the process, capturing the eye of co-star Elizabeth Cook. Ledger also makes a cameo in the video, which was intended as a tribute to Totos Africa video.
Having my co-writer Logan Ledger and the great Elizabeth Cook in the video made this song extra special for me. Jeremy Dylan did a terrific job directing it, Lauderdale tells Rolling Stone Country.Logan and I had written a few songs together over the years and Ilove his writing and singing. One day when we were going to start writing, he said, Ive got this title: The Secrets of the Pyramids, and that knocked me over as one of the best titles Id ever heard. I said, Please let me write that with you!'
From Another World marks Lauderdales third release since joining Yep Roc Records, and follows two albums that came out in 2018: Time Flies, a collection of new originals, and the long-lost Jim Lauderdale and Roland White, which was recorded in 1979. The new album reunites him with Times Flies producer Jay Weaver and engineer David Leonard, and includes songs written with Buddy Cannon and Melba Montgomery.
