Anchorman Exhibit Opens in Washington D.C.

If youre in the Washington, D.C. area and youre a big fan of Channel 4 Evening News anchor Ron Burgundy, youre about to be in for quite a treat (and we dont mean a Scotchy nightcap). This morning, D.C.s own Newseum cut the ribbon on its latest attraction: Anchorman: The Exhibit. In a partnership with Paramount Pictures, the Newseum will have an elaborate tribute to everyones favorite mustachioed newsman ready for public viewing (and participation). Costumes, props, footage, and even the entire Channel 4 Evening News desk will be on display until August 31, 2014. And if youre wondering just how this whole thing came together, look no further than Ron Burgundy himself.

Will Ferrell was at the Newseum in the summer of 2012, Newseums Vice President of Exhibits Cathy Trost told Rolling Stone. His creative team thought it was a great idea to collaborate with us for an Anchorman exhibit. We immediately got excited about the possibilities.

So just what type of items will be laid out for all the young potential newscasters to gawk over? Everything from Ron Burgundys legendary burgundy polyester suit and mystical jazz flute to Brian Fantanas Sex Panther cologne and Arturo Mendezs whip. The most prized item, however, may just be Burgundys oft-used mustache brush.

Ron Burgundy has a self regard, Trost said, and is never too far a makeup mirror or his mustache brush. We made sure to include some of his tools of the trade in the exhibit.

The exhibits main attraction is the opportunity for patrons to not only sit at the Channel 4 news desk, but also get a chance to actually step in front of the camera and do their own Anchorman-themed TV spot. At one of the Newseums Be a TV Reporter stations, Ron Burgundy himself will lead off things with an introduction before throwing his young protg to the proverbial wolves.

A regularly-priced ticket to the Newseum gets your admittance to all of the Anchorman related goodies, but if youre looking to really meet the man behind the mustache, youll need to find out for yourself how to get access to the exclusive, invitation-only event with Will Ferrell on December 3.

And if youre looking to partake in some of Ron Burgundys favorite spirits, you may want to find a good bar in the area to visit after youve had your fill at the Newseum.

No scotchy scotch scotch, Trost said with a laugh. But wouldnt that be fun?

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues hits theaters December 20th.
