The gripping first trailer for The Circle begins withTom Hanks channeling Steve Jobs as the charismatic Eamon Bailey, owner of technology company called the Circle.
Based on Dave Eggers book of the same name, the clip centers around Mae Holland, a new employee at the Circle. Holland goes from answering questions about her favorite Beatle and video game at a job interview to discovering the nefarious side of the Circles latest invention: a small, portable, high-quality camera.
As Bailey muses about transparency, accountability and bringing the world together in a speech, Holland is shown the Circles massive server farm and finds herself stranded in a body of water, clutching a kayak. The trailer comes to a tense end as the Circles cameras capture scenes of social unrest including a ridiculous drone attack while Bailey waxes, Because knowing is good but knowing everything is better.
The Circlewas directed by James Ponsoldt and will also star John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Patton Oswalt and Bill Paxton.
