The actor was speaking at a master class at this years Taormina Film Festival in Sicily when he said he was working on gaining the proper legal clearance to reprise the famous, flamboyant bowler. If I can get the permission I need, Id like to return to that role, he said.

Turturro didnt offer any specifics regarding his plans for the Jesus, but this isnt the first time hes brought up the possibility of bringing back the character. At a 2011 panel that reunited the cast of The Big Lebowski, Turturro said he was thinking about a sequel in which Jesus becomes a bus driver.

It will be interesting to see if Turturro can get permission to use Jesus from Lebowskis writers/directors, Joel and Ethan Coen: While much of the cast is happy to wax nostalgic about the 1998 cult classic especially the Dude himself, Jeff Bridges the sibling filmmakers have declined to discuss the film on numerous occasions, including our 2008 story on Lebowskis legacy.

Still, the Dudes big adventure lives on. Back in April, Bridges headlined the annual Lebowski Fest in Los Angeles, playing a set with his aptly named band the Abiders; and in 2012, the Dude even confessed to Rolling Stone that The BigLebowskiis one of the few movies hes in that hell still watch: You know, I rarely will watch my movies when they come on TV, but when Lebowski comes on Ill say, Oh, Ill just wait until Turturro licks the ball and then Ill do my clicking. But its like The Godfather when The Godfather comes on I have that same kind of feeling, then you get hooked.
