Back-to-back Super Bowl appearances and one shiny ring to show for it? Jon Ryan isnt satisfied.
The 33-year-old Seattle Seahawks punter put his athletic ability (yes, punters are athletes too) to the ultimate test Monday on the season premiere of NBCs American Ninja Warrior, the show in which contestants navigate their way around, over and through a seemingly endless series of obstacles for a shot at $1 million (in theory no ones actually won the grand prize through six seasons).
While Ryan made it past the first two obstacles with ease striking a blow for his fellow punters in the process his shot at glory was ultimately short-lived. With Seahawks teammates Jermaine Kearse and Derrick Coleman cheering him on, Ryan saw it all come crumbling down when he lost his footing on the tilting table 40 seconds into the competition.
Credit to Ryan for even giving it a shot even if he didnt get to watch his run on TV. At the very least, he can sleep well, knowing that he made it further than fellow NFLer (and fellow Super Bowl champion) Brendon Ayanbadejo. Or, you know, he can use it as motivation for next year, when the Ginja Ninja gets another shot at conquering Mt. Midoriyama and grabbing the $1 million prize.
Thank you #12s for watching me tonight on @ninjawarrior Ill be back next year and make it further #GinjaNinja
