Travers: David Finchers Gone Girl Is Wildly Entertaining

David Finchers mystery-thrillerGone Girlhits theaters on Friday, October 3rd, and its already earning strong reviews for its intricate story of a missing woman (Rosamund Pike), her murder-suspect husband (Ben Affleck) and the couples layered, tumultuous relationship. Even if you dont wanna see it, youre gonna be dragged to it by someone who does, says Rolling Stone movie critic Peter Travers in his latest installment of At the Movies. As for David Finchers adaptation of Gillian Flynns bestselling mystery, he dubs it the date night movie of the decade for couples whove always dreamed of destroying each other.

Travers says this wildly entertaining film, adapted by Flynn from her 2012 novel, touches on the cultural moment that we live in a time when who wants divorce when basically you can go to lethal revenge or aggravated assault? Its a movie thats gonna make you argue, thats gonna make you mad, that will make you wanna punch walls and go nuts.

But its also a showcase for acting of the highest caliber from the spot-on supporting cast (including Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry) to the co-starring Rosamund Pike, who gives the breakthrough, star-making performance of the year.

Do I sound like I like it? Travers asks. Hell, I love it.
