John Malkovichs strange foray into the work of David Lynch, Playing Lynch, continued Friday with the actor descending into the shadows and donning a wig and roughly 15 pounds of makeup to play Eraserheads Lady in the Radiator. For his portrayal of the iconic, creepy scene, Malkovich sings and sways along with Zola Jesus rendition of the Lady in the Radiators mantra, In Heaven.
Throughout the week, the chameleonic actor has immersed himself in Lynch characters like Twin Peaks Agent Dale Cooper and the Log Lady and Blue Velvets Frank Booth in an effort to raise money for the directors David Lynch Foundation, which aims to teach people who suffer trauma about transcendental meditation.
Each time the fundraising drive hits a goal, another Malkovich portrayal becomes available, with the actors takes on Eraserheads Henry Spencer, Lost Highways the Mystery Man and the titular character from The Elephant Man next on Malkovichs repertoire.
Those who donate money to Playing Lynch receive a download of The Music of David Lynch, featuring tracks from longtime collaborator Angelo Badalamenti, Lykke Li, Sky Ferreira, the Flaming Lips Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd and the aforementioned Zola Jesus cut. Additional donation packages include a 20-minute film of all the vignettes and stills from the shoot.
