Tupac Biopic Finally Ready to Film

A long-delayed Tupac Shakur biopic will finally get off the ground next year. Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett/Furla Films are finalizing negotiations for Tupac, and the production will start filming in 2014 in Atlanta, according to The Associated Press.

Tupac looked set to move forward in February 2011, when the film was put back into production after a long legal battle between the rappers mother, Afeni Shakur, and Morgan Creek. Afeni Shakur originally demanded extensive creative control before signing over the rights to her sons music and story, but she was sued by Morgan Creek for continuing to negotiate after the deal was completed. Afeni Shakur then countersued Morgan Creek, saying there was no deal. The two parties reached a settlement before the disagreement went to trial in 2011. The rappers mother is now an executive producer on Tupac.

Still, the drawn-out schedule hasnt helped with casting: though Morgan Creek and Emmett/Furla Films say the film will focus on Tupacs life, theres no word on who will direct the project or portray the slain rapper in the film.
