M. Night Shyamalan, Bruce Willis to Reunite for Unbreakable Sequel


M. Night Shyamalan confirmed that he finished the script for the follow-up to bothUnbreakable, a film from 2000 starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, and Split, starring James McAvoy that was released last year. The new movie,Glass, will come out in early 2019.

Shyamalan announced the news in a series of Twitter posts. Its taken 17 years but I can finally answer the #1 question I get, Are you making a f#&@ing sequel to Unbreakable or what?' he wrote. My new film is the sequel to UnbreakableandSplit. It was always my dream to have both films collide in this third film.

He also revealed details about the films cast, which includes the iconic Willis, the incomparable Jackson, the virtuoso McAvoy, and the prodigy Anya Taylor-Joy. The first two actors were central to Unbreakable, while the second two were the focus of Split. Willis also made a surprise cameo during the twist ending of Split, suddenly linking two films that initially appeared unrelated.

Universal Pictures confirmed Shyamalans Twitter posts and also released a short synopsis of Glass. Glass finds Dunn [Willis] pursuing Crumbs [McAvoys] superhuman figure of the Beast in a series of escalating encounters, the studio explained in a statement. The shadowy presence of Price [Jackson] emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

Shyamalans latest project aims to build on the box office success ofSplit: according to The Hollywood Reporter, that movie cost $9 million to make and made $275 million worldwide.
