Fans eagerly anticipating the new Batman vs. Superman movie will have to wait an extra year for the epic meeting. Warner Bros. pictures announced on Friday evening that the films release has been delayed until May 6th, 2016, CNN reports.
The sequel to Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder, was originally slated to hit theaters on July 17th, 2015, but representatives for the studio said the extra time was needed to give filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.

We know that there is already great anticipation building for the next super hero film from Zack Snyder, and we are equally eager to see what he has in store for Superman and Batman as they share the big screen for the first time ever, Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, president of Warner Bros. Pictures international distribution, told CNN.
The film attracted some consternation from comic book fans when it was announced in August that Ben Affleck would be taking on the role of Batman, starring opposite Henry Cavill, who will be returning as Superman. Amy Adams will be reprising her role as Lois Lane, and model/actress Gal Gadot has signed on to play Wonder Woman.
The new release date puts Batman vs. Superman up against an untitled Marvel movie opening on the same date, according to Forbes. Warner Bros. will be filling the original July 17th release slot with a new Peter Pan film.
