Lumineers Play a Pair of Songs on Colbert

The Lumineers injected a rootsy feel into last nights Colbert Report with a pair of performances and an interview segment that found the band talking about moving from Brooklyn to Denver (financial reasons, Wesley Schultz said), Neyla Pekareks job prospects and answering Colberts probing question, Why do you stomp and clap so much?

In the performance segments, the Lumineers started with Stubborn Love, which featured more stomping than clapping over steady acoustic guitar strumming and Pekareks mournful cello. The band stuck around for a web exclusive version of Submarines, anchored by a jaunty piano line and Schultzs lilting vocals. Both songs are from The Lumineers, the bands recently re-released debut LP.
