Watch Dave Grohl Jam With Preservation Hall Jazz Band on Colbert


Dave Grohl joined Preservation Hall Jazz Band,Jon Batiste and Stay Human for a monster jam on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Wednesday.

Grohl was on hand with his mother, Virginia, to discussFrom Cradle to Stage,her new book about rock star moms. After the interview, Grohl leapt off the couch and jumped behind a drum set to join Preservation Hall and TheLate Show house band for a fiery rendition of the formers new song, Santiago.

This isnt the first time Grohl has teamed with Preservation Hall Jazz Band: In 2014, members of Preservation Hall joined the Foo Fighters onstage during a surprise performance at the jazz outfits titular headquarters in New Orleans.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band performed several songs from theirnew album, So It Is, duringThe Late ShowWednesday. TV On the Radios Dave Sitek produced the new record, which was inspired by the bands 2015 trip to Cuba. Preservation Hall Jazz Band will play a handful of summer festival dates in support of the album, starting May 7th with a hometown set at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Theyre also set to play Bonnaroo and Arroyo Seco.

As for Grohl, the musician penned the foreword to From Cradle to Stage and has been helping his mom promote the book. Along with Virginia Grohls own stories, From Cradle to Stage includes interviews Virginia Grohl conducted with the mothers of other musicians, including Miranda Lambert, Dr. Dre, Amy Winehouse, Pharrell and Tom Morello.
