After spending six seasons playing budding songwriter Scarlett OConnor on the ABC/CMT series drama Nashville, Clare Bowen will release her own debut album this summer.
Due July 12th, the self-titled LP features tracks like All the Beds Ive Made, Tide Rolls In, with a guest appearance by Americana singer-guitarist Buddy Miller, and the lead single Let It Rain, an upbeat, soulful song that Bowen has already been performing live.
Songwriters Lori McKenna, Nathan Chapman and Wyatt Durrette all have tracks on the album, which was produced by Josh Kaufman. Bowen wrote much of the album with her husband Brandon Robert Young. In 2017, the couple teamed up to release the song Love Steps In, a tribute to Bowens younger brother who was battling the same type of cancer that the actress herself faced as a child.
Bowen will launch a five-city tour following the release of the album in July.
Our audiences know that Im human, she told Rolling Stone in 2017. Youre still doing a show, but its not a song-and-dance for us, its a gift for people to come see us no matter what the reasons. They might want to hear stories; they might need to escape for a while. They might come away from our shows having shifted somewhere in their own life. Were not heart surgeons and were not rocket scientists, were not doctors and we dont save lives. But we move people.
